Arjun Kapoor Opens Up About Parents’ Divorce and Boney Kapoor’s Relationship with Sridevi

Arjun Kapoor reflects on his childhood struggles, the impact of his parents’ separation, and how he coped with his father’s relationship with Sridevi.

December 23, 2024: In a candid conversation on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor opened up about the emotional struggles he faced during his parents’ separation and his father, Boney Kapoor, falling in love with Sridevi.

Arjun shared that his parents’ divorce when he was just 10 years old was a deeply traumatic experience that shaped his life in unexpected ways. He recalled how his father was busy with high-pressure projects like Prem and Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja during that time, which affected their father-son bond.

“My father was busy with two big films when this was happening. We never had a normal father-son relationship. It’s not that he didn’t try, but circumstances made it difficult,” Arjun said.

He also admitted that his academics suffered after the divorce, describing his behavior as a form of silent rebellion. “I lost interest in education. I felt it was a way of showing my frustration without causing disruptions,” he shared.

On Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s Relationship:

Boney Kapoor’s relationship with Sridevi became public after his divorce from Mona Shourie in 1996. Reflecting on this phase, Arjun revealed how he matured early to maintain a connection with his father.

“I tried to process it rationally. I wanted to make sure I didn’t lose my connection with my father. Even if I wasn’t okay with it, I accepted it because he seemed happy,” he said.

Arjun also emphasized how friends and family helped him stay grounded during this challenging time and credited them for preventing him from feeling isolated.

On His Career Comeback:

Despite recent career setbacks with films like The Lady Killer, Ek Villain Returns, and Kuttey, Arjun Kapoor has bounced back with his role as the villain in Singham Again. The film, featuring Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Akshay Kumar, earned him much-needed critical acclaim.

Arjun’s candid revelations highlight his resilience in overcoming personal struggles while staying connected with his family and carving his niche in Bollywood.
