Arjun Kapoor Praises Sunil Chhetri After Final Match

Actor Arjun Kapoor penned an emotional tribute to Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri after his final match for India in the World Cup Qualification game on Thursday.

Arjun shared a portrait of Chhetri on Instagram, writing, “End of an era! Thank you @chetri_sunil11, for the memories, the passion, and the unmatched dedication.”

Sunil Chhetri began his professional football career with Mohun Bagan in 2002 and has significantly impacted Indian football. He helped India secure victories in the 2007, 2009, and 2012 Nehru Cup, and the 2011, 2015, 2021, and 2023 SAFF Championships. Chhetri also led India to win the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup, qualifying India for its first AFC Asian Cup in 27 years.

In Chhetri’s final match, the Blue Tigers dominated the first half but couldn’t score. Kuwait made a strong comeback in the second half, but Indian goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu kept them from scoring. Despite numerous attempts, including close calls by Anwar Ali and Sunil Chhetri, the match ended in a goalless draw.

On the work front, Arjun Kapoor will next appear in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singhan Again’ and is currently filming ‘Meri Patni Ka Remake.’
