Arnold Schwarzenegger Gives Blessing For ‘The Running Man’ Remake, Says Glen Powell

April 6,2025: Actor Glen Powell has expressed his excitement and gratitude after receiving words of appreciation from Hollywood icon Arnold Schwarzenegger for his role in the upcoming remake of the 1987 classic The Running Man. Powell, who is set to star in the second screen adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, shared that Schwarzenegger gave his full blessing to the project, which he described as a special moment.

In an interview, Powell revealed that he reached out to Schwarzenegger through his son, Patrick Schwarzenegger, a close friend of Powell’s. “Arnold gave us his blessing,” Powell said, adding that he hadn’t seen the action star since they worked together on The Expendables in Bulgaria. “It was a great moment to hear that from him,” Powell continued.

The new Running Man movie is a remake of the 1987 film, which originally starred Schwarzenegger as a convict forced to participate in a deadly game show where he must outrun professional killers. Powell’s remake, directed by Edgar Wright, is based on King’s 1982 novel of the same name, which has already seen one screen adaptation with Schwarzenegger’s involvement.

Powell is eager to give back to Schwarzenegger for his kind words, mentioning, “We get to give Arnold a very specific fun gift from the movie in a couple of weeks here. So I’m very excited to see him.” Schwarzenegger, meanwhile, is busy with his upcoming project Fubar 2, which will release on Netflix on June 12.

Powell, along with co-stars Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, and others, recently showcased the first footage of the remake at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The film will also feature a star-studded cast, including Lee Pace, Katy O’Brian, William H. Macy, Emilia Jones, and Michael Cera.

The Running Man remake, set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025, is expected to bring a fresh take to the action-thriller genre, while paying homage to the iconic original film. Fans of the classic and newcomers alike are eagerly anticipating the new version of this dystopian, high-stakes adventure.
