Astronomer Hires Chris Martin’s Ex-Wife Gwyneth Paltrow After Kiss Cam Chaos

Company Taps Hollywood Star for Viral PR Stunt. Genius Move Follows Executive Cheating Scandal at Coldplay Concert

July 26, 2025: Astronomer, a tech company that was recently involved in a viral cheating controversy, has hired Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow as their “temporary spokesperson.” This action surprised many people and got a lot of applause. On Friday, July 25, the DataOps platform posted a one-minute video on their social media channels that starred the “Iron Man” actor.

Gwyneth Paltrow Leads Astronomer’s Smart PR Move After Coldplay Scandal
“I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer,” Paltrow said at the beginning of the tape, with a straight face. Then she said, “Astronomers have been getting a lot of questions lately, and they asked me to answer the most common ones.”

Instead of talking on the well-known “kiss cam” incident at a Coldplay concert between former CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot, Paltrow skillfully switched to talking about Astronomer’s data operations and marketing their newest AI and data technologies. “We’re so happy that so many people are now interested in automating data workflows,” she said.

While I was waiting for anything funny to happen, a question appeared on the screen that said, “How is your social media team doing?” Viewers expected a nod to the incident, but Paltrow skillfully avoided it. Instead, she talked about their upcoming “Beyond Analytics” conference in September and mentioned that there were still openings. At the end of the video, she said, “Now it’s time to go back to what we do best: giving our customers results that change the game.” Thanks for wanting to know more about Astronomer.

The internet has praised Astronomer’s clever marketing plan, calling it a “PR masterclass.” People on social media complimented the company for turning a bad viral moment into a great way to get people to know about their brand. There were a lot of comments online that included things like “Hiring the ex-wife of the lead Coldplay singer to deliver this message is absolutely savage” and “Best brand response of the year, holy s**t.”

The issue started during a Coldplay concert in Boston on July 16, when Chris Martin’s “kiss cam” filmed Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot hugging. Their startled reaction on tape, followed by Martin’s funny guess about an affair or shyness, soon spread over the internet. Later web investigations showed that both executives were married to other people, which led to their resignations from Astronomer.
