Ayodhya Saints Support Manoj Muntashir’s Proposal To Build Toilets Over Aurangzeb’s Grave

March 12, 2025: Saints in Ayodhya have come forward in support of lyricist Manoj Muntashir’s suggestion to build toilets over the grave of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. This proposal has sparked a political and social debate, with many people voicing their opinions on the matter. Saints like Vishnu Das, Mahant Sitaram Das, and Acharya Paramhans have all expressed their support for Muntashir’s view, stating that a tyrant like Aurangzeb, who is considered responsible for the destruction of Sanatan Dharma, should not have a shrine or grave in India.

Saint Vishnu Das strongly criticized Aurangzeb, labeling him a “tyrant ruler” whose actions were aimed at eradicating Sanatan Dharma. He expressed his support for Muntashir’s suggestion, calling it an excellent idea to build a toilet over the emperor’s grave, symbolizing the rejection of such historical figures and their actions.

Acharya Paramhans Maharaj, another prominent saint, went further, offering financial support if the proposal to build toilets over the grave were realized. He emphasized that the construction of a toilet at the site would help eradicate a “big stigma” attached to India’s history. Paramhans Maharaj also highlighted the atrocities committed by Aurangzeb, including the killing of Guru Teg Bahadur and torturing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

Mahant Sitaram Das of the Saket Bhawan temple echoed similar sentiments, reinforcing the idea that invaders like Aurangzeb should not have their graves or tombs in India. He argued that the country should be a place of constitutional and Hindu values, and that figures like Aurangzeb, who represented radical jihadist ideologies, have no place in modern India.

Manoj Muntashir, who is known for his work on films like Adipurush, had earlier voiced his opinion on the matter. He argued that the grave of Aurangzeb was a “monument of national shame” and suggested that instead of demolishing it, a toilet should be constructed at the site as a symbol of India’s commitment to cleanliness and the Swachh Bharat Mission. Muntashir shared his thoughts with ANI, asserting that any Indian proud of Aurangzeb’s grave should reconsider their patriotism.

Muntashir’s remarks also sparked political controversy when Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar suspended Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi for his defense of Aurangzeb. Azmi had claimed that Aurangzeb was not a “cruel administrator” and had even built temples, which led to his suspension. Azmi later clarified that his statements had been misrepresented by the media.

This entire issue, involving historical figures, political statements, and cultural sentiments, continues to fuel debates about India’s past and its future direction. Whether or not Muntashir’s proposal will come to fruition remains to be seen, but it has already ignited strong reactions from across the country, especially regarding the role of historical figures in shaping contemporary India.
