‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Showrunner Reveals How Golden Bachelor Stars Were Seamlessly Integrated Into the Show
Los Angeles, July 8 – As anticipation builds for the upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise, showrunner Scott Teti has pulled back the curtain on how former contestants from The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette were thoughtfully woven into the tropical drama. In an exclusive interview with Deadline, Teti explained that producers took great care to integrate the older cast members in a way that felt natural, respectful — and ultimately transformational for the show’s younger contestants.
In an interview with Deadline on Monday, Bachelor in Paradise showrunner Scott Teti revealed the strategic and heartfelt planning that went into incorporating Golden Bachelor and Golden Bachelorette stars into the franchise’s famously youthful spinoff.
“There was a lot of thought in how to bring them in,” Teti said. “You want to give everybody an equal chance to find love and really build their relationships. So we thought a lot about how to integrate them — in a way that wasn’t interruptive but complementary.”
The result, he says, was a seamless fusion of generations that added both levity and life lessons to Paradise.
Rather than forcing interaction between contestants with vastly different life experiences, the producers crafted an environment where the “Goldens” could thrive in their own generational lane — but still connect meaningfully with the younger cast. That balance, Teti said, created a sense of camaraderie that elevated the entire season.
“They had fun together in a really unique way,” he noted. “We built a little runway before introducing them, and it worked out perfectly. They meshed with the world of the younger cast.”
Teti also spoke about how the arrival of the older contestants shifted the energy in Paradise, particularly around how younger contestants approach dating in the age of social media.
“The younger generation lives in a social media environment. They’re very sensitive to how they curate themselves. The chatter from the outside world really weighs on them — it impacts their decisions. But when the Goldens arrived, they flipped the script.”
He added that the Golden contestants — with their wisdom and life experience — offered invaluable advice that helped younger cast members let go of external pressures and enjoy the present moment.
“They said things like, ‘What are you worried about? Get out of your head. Just have fun.’ It helped everyone open up,” Teti said. “It was this magical experience where the camaraderie and different POVs just clicked. It broke the younger cast out of their shells.”
Teti remained tight-lipped about exactly when and how the Golden Bachelor and Bachelorette stars would appear on the show, but emphasized that their presence isn’t just a gimmick — it’s a powerful addition to the format.
“Without giving away too much, we put a lot of thought into how and when they enter. It wasn’t just for a moment. Their presence changes things.”
This blending of generations could signal a new direction for the Bachelor franchise, one that embraces a wider spectrum of age and life experience — something fans of The Golden Bachelor have been eager to see extended into the broader universe of the show.
With the season premiere on the horizon, fans now have even more reason to be excited — not just for the drama and romance, but for the unexpected wisdom and heart that the Goldens bring to paradise.
