Singer speaks on halftime vision, Grammy high, and political backlash ahead of big night

February 7, 2026: As Super Bowl LX draws closer, global music star Bad Bunny says his focus is not on spectacle but on emotion, honesty, and connection. Speaking to Access Hollywood, the Puerto Rican artist shared that curating a 30-minute halftime set was one of the toughest challenges of his career. Rather than relying only on chart-topping hits, he said the performance is built around storytelling, mood, and feelings, with the aim of spreading joy, pride, and hope among viewers worldwide.

Reflecting on his journey, Bad Bunny recalled his early days working at a grocery store while making music, saying the same passion still drives him today. Fresh from winning three more awards at the 2026 Grammys, he also shared a touching moment with Lady Gaga, revealing she told him “I love you,” a moment he described as deeply emotional. Despite his global fame, the singer said he kept his Super Bowl selection private until it was officially confirmed, even from his parents.

However, his upcoming halftime show has also sparked political controversy. Conservative leaders criticised his selection over his views on immigration, with some labelling the event the “woke bowl” and a rival counter-programme announced by Turning Point USA. Responding calmly, Bad Bunny said his performance would focus on unity rather than division, adding that he simply hopes audiences see him as an honest artist who is proud of his roots. Bad Bunny will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show on February 8, airing on NBC and Peacock.
