Badshah Apologises Over ‘Tateeree’ Row

Rapper withdraws controversial Haryanvi song after FIR and online backlash

March 8, 2026: Indian rapper and singer Badshah has issued a public apology after his Haryanvi track Tateeree sparked widespread criticism and legal scrutiny. The controversy escalated after viewers objected to the song’s lyrics and visuals, prompting the Haryana Police to register an FIR against the artist. Responding to the backlash, Badshah shared a video message on Instagram, saying he never intended to hurt sentiments and confirming that the song would be removed from digital platforms.

In the video, the rapper said he was proud of his roots in Haryana and stressed that the lyrics were not meant to insult women or children. He explained that hip-hop music often includes competitive lyrics aimed at rivals rather than social groups. Badshah expressed regret over how the visuals and words were interpreted and apologised to people who felt offended, particularly those from his home state.

Complaints about the song were filed by social organisations including the Nari Tu Narayani Utthan Samiti and the Shiv Aarti India Foundation, whose representatives alleged that the video contained objectionable and sexually suggestive content. Released on March 1, 2026, the track featured singer Simran Jaglan, with music produced by Hiten and the video directed by Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu. Despite its blend of regional Haryanvi sounds and modern rap, the song has now been withdrawn as the controversy continues.
