December 26, 2024: Banita Sandhu, known for her roles in October and Sardar Udham, has recently opened up about her decision to permanently move to India, the evolution of her career, and the attention her relationship with AP Dhillon has garnered since her appearance in his music video With You.

The Indian-origin actress, who previously lived in Wales, sees her move to India as a clear indication of her commitment to Bollywood. She shares, “Just by shifting here, I’m showing my commitment and focus on this industry. My mindset hasn’t changed since the beginning of my career—I’ve always wanted to do good work and give my best. India feels like a second home, and this move doesn’t feel like jumping into the unknown; it feels like I’m simply coming home.”

Banita explains that while she had been wanting to relocate for some time, her work commitments in the UK had kept her tied there until October. “Once those were completed, it felt like the perfect timing, especially with winter approaching. I can’t handle the cold weather!” she adds with a laugh.
When asked if her background made her feel out of place in India, she emphasises, “India has embraced me with open arms. I’ve faced more discrimination in the West, being a brown working actress there. In fact, I’ve lost out on roles because of how I look, and I’ve been told that directly.”
On the topic of her Bridgerton appearance, Banita expresses gratitude for the overwhelming response. “The love from Indian audiences was beyond anything I expected. It made me so proud to represent our country and showcase Indian talent to the world.”
Despite her successful career, Banita admits she felt somewhat forgotten in the industry at times. “Bollywood is fast-paced and transient. It’s easy to be overlooked because people forget how long it takes to create something. So, even if you’re not constantly on screen, it doesn’t mean you’re not working. My music video with AP Dhillon was a chance for me to show a different side of myself—a fun, light-hearted, and more playful version, as opposed to the serious, intense roles I usually play. I’m so glad it was received well; I was worried people would think, ‘Wait, what?’”
However, her appearance in the With You music video led to increased scrutiny of her relationship with AP Dhillon. When asked about the attention, Banita keeps her focus on work. “My focus is on my career, and everything else is just noise,” she says, brushing off any personal inquiries.
As Banita continues to carve her path in the Indian film industry, she remains focused on her craft, confident in her journey, and undistracted by the outside noise surrounding her personal life.
