Barry Keoghan, known for his stellar performances in The Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn, is the latest actor to join the cast of Netflix’s highly anticipated Peaky Blinders feature film. According to Deadline, Keoghan will star alongside Cillian Murphy, who will reprise his iconic role as Tommy Shelby in the movie directed by Tom Harper.
The casting news comes hot on the heels of last month’s announcement that Rebecca Ferguson is also set to join the star-studded ensemble. While specific details about Keoghan’s role have yet to be disclosed, fans are eagerly speculating on the character he will bring to life in the gritty world of the Shelby family.
The Peaky Blinders film will continue the saga originally created by Steven Knight, who has also penned the screenplay for this cinematic continuation. Knight will produce the film alongside Caryn Mandabach, Cillian Murphy, and Guy Heeley. The executive production team includes Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason. Produced in collaboration with BBC Film, the movie is expected to begin production later this year and will be set during World War II.
Barry Keoghan’s involvement adds another layer of excitement to the project, given his impressive track record of performances. His portrayal in The Banshees of Inisherin earned him critical acclaim and several awards, further establishing him as one of the most compelling actors of his generation.
In addition to his role in the Peaky Blinders movie, Keoghan has a busy slate of upcoming projects. He was last seen in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn and is set to star in films such as Bring Them Down and a project directed by Trey Edward Shults. Furthermore, Keoghan is in discussions to join Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo in Amazon MGM Studios’ adaptation of Don Winslow’s novella Crime 101.
As production for the Peaky Blinders movie gears up, the addition of Barry Keoghan to the cast is sure to heighten anticipation among fans. With a stellar cast and a gripping storyline set against the backdrop of World War II, this film promises to be a fitting continuation of the beloved series.
