Bella Ramsey’s Next Big Role Is Not What You Expect

July 2, 2025: Bella Ramsey, best known for their standout roles in The Last of Us and Game of Thrones, is set to headline a brand-new drama series titled Maya. The six-part series, created by BAFTA-nominated actor and writer Daisy Haggard, has been officially greenlit by Channel 4 and will begin filming in Scotland later this year, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Bella Ramsey’s Next Big Role Is Not What You Expect

In Maya, Ramsey plays the titular role of a teenager who is forced into witness protection alongside her mother, Anna (played by Haggard), following a dangerous incident in London. The mother-daughter duo must leave their familiar life behind and settle in a quiet rural Scottish town. However, their attempts to start over are threatened by a dark past and two relentless hitmen hot on their trail.

Describing the series, Ramsey shared, “This story and these characters Daisy has created are so alive, nuanced, wickedly funny, and scarily dark. Every character jumps off the page, the dialogue is incredibly witty, and I’m so excited to get to play Maya opposite Daisy’s Anna.”

Maya will be co-directed by Jamie Donoughue and produced by Two Brothers Pictures, known for Fleabag and The Tourist, in collaboration with All3Media International.
