Ben Affleck Calls Divorce From Jennifer Lopez ‘Embarrassing’, Praises Jennifer Garner As ‘Wonderful’ Co-Parent

Hollywood actor Ben Affleck has opened up for the first time about his divorce from pop star and actor Jennifer Lopez, describing the split as “embarrassing” to talk about, while clarifying that their breakup wasn’t marred by any drama. In a new GQ interview, Affleck also praised his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, calling her a “wonderful and great” co-parent.

Affleck, 52, explained that while Lopez’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told sparked speculation, their separation was not caused by any particular event. “There’s no big dramatic thing. It sounds more like a couple’s therapy session,” he said, pointing to fundamental differences rather than sensational reasons.

Despite their parting, he had only kind words for Lopez. “She’s handled celebrity more adeptly and more adroitly than I have,” he said, acknowledging that their divergent attitudes toward fame—her openness and his preference for privacy—didn’t create a major fracture in their relationship.

Affleck Shuts Down Rumors, Focuses on Parenting

Affleck and Lopez finalized their divorce in January, just five months after filing. Addressing tabloid chatter and public curiosity, the actor admitted that being under constant media scrutiny affects not just him but his children too. “They see headlines at the grocery store. We’ve had to explain, ‘This isn’t always true,’” he shared.

The Argo star also opened up about his respectful relationship with Jennifer Garner, his ex-wife of 10 years and mother of his three children—Violet (19), Seraphina (16), and Samuel (13). “I’m really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner,” he said. “We work together well.”

While Affleck has been seen spending more time with Garner post-divorce, fueling reconciliation rumors, sources indicate that Garner is in a committed relationship with businessman John Miller, with wedding plans reportedly in the works.

For Affleck, the focus now is less on managing public perception and more on staying grounded. “I don’t present in a very careful way. I’ll go pick up packages and I don’t really care that people are there to take my picture,” he said candidly.
