April 15, 2025: Ben Affleck may have starred in countless romantic films, but the Oscar-winning actor admits he’s not so smooth when it comes to real-life romance—especially after his divorce from Jennifer Lopez.
While promoting his upcoming movie The Accountant 2, Affleck confessed he relates to his character Christian Wolff’s awkwardness in navigating love.
“He wants to have a relationship with a woman, but he’s trying to figure out how to do that. He’s not comfortable extending himself… he doesn’t really know how to flirt exactly,” Affleck said at a press junket, adding with a smile, “like so many of us.”

Affleck, 52, joked that post-divorce dating is full of second-guessing:
“It’s not easy for anyone figuring out relationships, particularly in the early part — where you’re trying to gauge, ‘Is this person into me? Am I going to humiliate myself if I go over there?’”
He even poked fun at a scene from the movie where he attempts line dancing on a date:
“I probably am not going to get a lot more demands for my line-dancing work in movies. The phone hasn’t rung yet.”

Affleck described the split as “drama-free” in a recent interview with GQ, and said Lopez remains “somebody [he has] a lot of respect for.”
