Ben Affleck Returns in The 'Accountant 2' with High-Octane Sequel Footage at CinemaCon
Las Vegas, April 4: Ben Affleck and the cast of The Accountant 2 brought adrenaline and anticipation to CinemaCon 2025, unveiling exclusive footage from the highly awaited sequel to the 2016 sleeper hit. Directed by Gavin O’Connor, the film is set to hit theaters on April 25, distributed by Amazon MGM Studios.
“It does feel great to continue the story of The Accountant,” said Affleck on stage. “I’m thrilled to be playing this part again with this great cast. In some ways, I feel like this character never left me.”
Affleck reprises his role as Christian Wolff, the brilliant and enigmatic accountant on the autism spectrum whose lethal skills make him a force to reckon with. Joining him once again is Jon Bernthal, playing Christian’s volatile brother Braxton.
“A wolf has to have his pack,” said Bernthal, to which Affleck jokingly replied, “I don’t know that Christian needs Brax so much. It’s not necessary. It’s useful.”
Daniella Pineda, a new addition to the cast, teased action-packed scenes, saying, “I do have some pretty brutal fight scenes that will look awesome on your screens.”
The trailer shown to exhibitors featured a reunion between the brothers after the death of J.K. Simmons’ character, followed by a wild bar brawl—“My brother wasn’t having a good time tonight, but now he will,” Affleck’s Wolff says dryly in the scene.
The ensemble also includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson and Allison Robertson, with production led by Artists Equity — the banner co-founded by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. They are joined by Lynette Howell Taylor (51 Entertainment) and Mark Williams, with Dani Bernfeld, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe, and Alison Winter serving as executive producers.
This marks Amazon MGM Studios’ first CinemaCon appearance since the companies merged. In addition to showcasing The Accountant 2, the studio teased plans to release at least 12 theatrical films per year, including future installments in the James Bond franchise.
The Accountant (2016) earned $155 million globally, cementing Affleck’s character as a unique action hero—a high-functioning math genius with a deadly combat background.
Director Gavin O’Connor and Affleck previously collaborated on The Way Back (2020), released just before the COVID-19 pandemic shuttered theaters worldwide.
CinemaCon is the largest annual gathering of movie theater owners and Hollywood studios, held this year from March 31 to April 3 at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, and presented by Cinema United (formerly NATO).
