Between Alia and Pooja, Who Carries Mahesh Bhatt’s Legacy? Rahul Bhatt compares

Rahul Bhatt praises Pooja Bhatt’s talent and charisma, says Alia may be popular but isn’t on par with her elder sister in terms of talent or presence.

Rahul Bhatt Says Alia Bhatt Is ‘Paani Kam Chai’ Next to Pooja Bhatt, Credits Sister for Carrying Forward Mahesh Bhatt’s Legacy

Alia Bhatt might be celebrated as one of the most successful and versatile actors of her generation, but her step-brother Rahul Bhatt believes she doesn’t hold a candle to his sister, Pooja Bhatt. In a candid new interview, Rahul made it clear that, in his eyes, Pooja is the true torchbearer of Mahesh Bhatt’s legacy.

Speaking to Hindi Rush, Rahul Bhatt shared his thoughts on the family dynamics and how he sees the talents of his half-sisters. “She [Alia] has got talent. She has the universe with her. She understands PR. She has everything, and when you have everything, the universe conspires to make it happen,” he acknowledged.

However, he quickly added, “In my opinion, she is not even half of what my real sister Pooja is. Not in talent, not in looks, not in terms of being sexy. In front of my sister, she is ‘paani kam chai’ (a weaker version). Among the siblings, the most talented and the most moralistic is Pooja.”

Pooja Bhatt, a leading actress in the 1990s, is known for films like Sadak and Zakhm, and later turned to directing and producing under the Bhatt banner. Rahul emphasized that she was not only a star but also the one who upheld their father Mahesh Bhatt’s creative legacy. “Pooja took my father’s legacy ahead. I saw her in her stardom. She was the biggest sex symbol of the country then,” he said.

Rahul also reflected on his current relationship with Alia, mentioning that it is distant and not particularly close. “I respect her for taking care of my other step-sister Shaheen. But I don’t share the kind of relationship with Alia where I could just drop by her house,” he admitted.

His comments have stirred mixed reactions on social media, with many calling his comparison unnecessary, while others echoed nostalgia for Pooja Bhatt’s era in Bollywood.
