‘Bhooth Bangla’ Teaser: Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan Reunite for Spooky Slapstick

The wait for the iconic Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan reunion is nearly over. On Thursday, March 12, 2026, the makers unveiled the first teaser for Bhooth Bangla, a horror-comedy that marks the duo’s first collaboration in 16 years.

The teaser instantly trended on social media, with fans celebrating the return of the “OG Khiladi” to his comedic roots alongside a powerhouse ensemble including Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Wamiqa Gabbi.

The 1-minute-23-second teaser introduces us to the eerie town of Mangalpur, a place where “no one dares to marry” due to the legend of an entity called Vadhusur.

Akshay Kumar plays a character who inherits a sprawling, albeit haunted, palace—which he humorously compares to being “just 2–3 rooms shy of Buckingham Palace.” While the teaser is packed with Priyadarshan’s signature chaotic humor, it has sparked comparisons to recent genre hits like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Stree 2, particularly regarding its “monster” lore and the familiar haveli setting (filmed at Jaipur’s Chomu Palace).

Cast and Production Highlights

  • The Ensemble: The film features the return of the legendary comedy trio—Akshay, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav. It also marks a significant on-screen reunion for Akshay and Tabu after nearly 25 years.
  • A Final Farewell: Bhooth Bangla includes one of the final performances by the late veteran actor Asrani, who passed away in 2025 but completed his portions for the film.
  • Creative Team: The script is reportedly inspired by Vedic mythology and black magic. The music is composed by Pritam, with the first track “Ram Ji Aake Bhala Karenge” already gaining traction.

Strategic Release Date Change

The film’s journey to the big screen has seen several shifts. Originally planned for April 2 and later pushed to mid-May, the makers have finally locked April 10, 2026, as the release date. This strategic move places the film roughly three weeks after Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, allowing enough space for both blockbusters to breathe at the box office.
