Big Bold Beautiful Journey: Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell’s Timeless Love Story

The trailer for Kogonada’s sweeping romantic drama has dropped, promising an enchanting blend of past and present, magic and heart

A new chapter in cinematic romance is on the horizon with Big Bold Beautiful Journey, the latest film from acclaimed director Kogonada and writer Seth Reiss (The Menu). The first trailer for the film, starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, was released on Tuesday, giving audiences a glimpse into the mystical, time-bending adventure that promises to be an emotional and captivating experience. The film is slated for a theatrical release on September 19 via Sony’s Columbia Pictures.

Big Bold Beautiful Journey follows the story of Sarah and David, two strangers who first meet at a mutual friend’s wedding. Their brief encounter sparks a connection that fate refuses to let go. Thanks to a mystical GPS-like force, the pair are brought together again, only to stumble upon a series of magical doors that act as portals to pivotal moments in their respective pasts. As they journey through these moments, they find themselves revisiting life’s most significant memories — the joys, the heartbreaks, and the choices that made them who they are.

The trailer hints at a stunning visual and emotional feast, with Kogonada’s signature aesthetic — lush, poetic imagery paired with poignant storytelling — on full display. “This is the kind of film I would want to watch in a packed theater,” the director said when the trailer premiered at CinemaCon earlier this year. “At its heart, it is two people reconciling with their past to find love in the present.”

Joining Robbie and Farrell in the star-studded cast are Kevin Kline, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lucy Thomas, Hamish Linklater, Billy Magnussen, Sarah Gadon, Brandon Perea, and Yuvi Hecht. For Robbie, this marks her first major acting role since her unforgettable turn in Barbie, while Farrell returns to the big screen fresh from his gritty performance in The Penguin.

The film is produced by Bradley Thomas, Ryan Friedkin, Seth Reiss, and Youree Henley under the banners of Imperative Entertainment and 30West. Executive producers include Kogonada, Ilene Feldman, Gino Falsetto, Ori Eisen, Paul Mezey, Micah Green, Dan Steinman, and John Atwood.

As Big Bold Beautiful Journey readies itself to hit theaters, fans and film lovers can look forward to a tale that transcends the barriers of time, weaving a romance that asks how far we’re willing to go to find love — and how much of the past we’re willing to embrace to move forward.
