Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates is set to make a brief, special guest appearance on the popular Indian television show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The show, a limited-series reboot of the iconic soap opera starring actor-politician Smriti Irani, has garnered significant popularity since its premiere on July 29, 2025, on Star Plus.
The news was teased by the makers, Balaji Telefilms Limited, with a promo shared on their social media. In the teaser, Smriti Irani, reprising her role as Tulsi Virani, is seen preparing for a video call on her laptop, addressing the unseen guest, “Jai Shree Krishna, bahut accha laga yeh jaan ke ke aap seedha America se mere parivaar se judd rahe hai. Aapka hum sab besabri se intezaar kar rahe hai (We are grateful that you are connecting with us and our family directly from America. We are waiting for you).” While the guest’s face was not revealed in the clip, the caption confirmed the special guest would appear in the upcoming Thursday and Friday episodes. Reports quickly identified the guest as Bill Gates.
Former Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, confirmed the appearance in an interview with CNBC-TV18, calling it “a historic moment in Indian entertainment.”
The reboot, produced by Ekta Kapoor, brings back the original beloved lead pair—Smriti Irani as Tulsi Virani and Amar Upadhyay as Mihir—along with a new generation of characters including Rohit Suchanti, Tanisha Mehta, Shagun Sharma, and Aman Gandhi. Unlike its predecessor, which ran for over eight years, this version is a limited series of 150 episodes. The show is also available digitally on JioHotstar.
