In a candid interview with The New York Times, Murray shared his side of the story, admitting that he had kissed a female co-star through a mask during a scene. He described the moment as something that he thought was light-hearted and funny, explaining, “It wasn’t like I touched her, but it was just, I gave her a kiss, and she was wearing a mask.” He further revealed that it wasn’t the first time he had done something similar, and believed it had always been received as a harmless joke in the past.

Murray explained the incident took place during the COVID-19 pandemic when everyone was wearing masks, and the crew was in a confined space. I certainly thought it was light. I thought it was funny. To me, it’s still funny, the idea that you could give someone a kiss with a mask on,” he concluded.
