Black Sabbath Bench Live Stream: Bids from Birmingham Goodbye

July 30, 2025: Birmingham will say a last goodbye to one of its most famous sons, Ozzy Osbourne. More than a week after the death of the famous Black Sabbath frontman at the age of 76, the city will have a funeral parade to honor “The Prince of Darkness.”

Thousands of people are anticipated to come together to honor and show their affection for the music legend. People have already sent tributes to the Black Sabbath Bridge, including signed guitars, toy bats, and touching notes in several languages. There are beers, whiskeys, and lighters next to flowers. The band members on the famed bench are wearing Aston Villa scarves, which is a nod to Black Sabbath’s Aston heritage and their recent “Back to the Beginning” last gig at Villa Park just three weeks ago.

Councillor Zafar Iqbal, the city’s Lord Mayor, made the announcement about the public parade yesterday (Tuesday, July 29). As the procession goes down Broad Street, Ozzy’s family is anticipated to be there. Around 1 PM local time, the procession will stop at the Black Sabbath bench and bridge so fans may pay their respects. The funeral service will still be private.

As part of the procession, musicians from Bostin’ Brass will play live brass music. This will be the last musical tribute to Ozzy Osbourne’s amazing life and legacy.

Road Closures and Advice for the Public
There will be a number of traffic closures across the city to make room for the event. Starting at 7 AM, Broad Street will be blocked to through traffic, and buses and trams will have to take a another route. The roadway is expected to be highly busy, and while access will be controlled, it can’t be assured. As soon as the event is over, Broad Street will be open again.

Stewards will be there to help visitors, who are asked to get there early, use public transportation, and follow safety rules on site. The Black Sabbath bench will still be available for live streaming, so fans from all over the world can still take part.

The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Zafar Iqbal, said, “Ozzy was more than a music legend; he was a son of Birmingham.” It was important for the city to support a fitting, dignified tribute before a private family funeral because he had just been given the Freedom of the City and had a famous performance at the Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park earlier this month. We know how much this moment will mean to his fans. We’re happy to host it here with his loving family in the place where it all started. We’re also thankful that they have offered to pay for it to happen and that the city is giving him the farewell he deserves.

Ozzy’s unique personality and legacy have clearly inspired his fans all over the world, as seen by the heartfelt and one-of-a-kind tributes left around Birmingham.
