Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick Reunite For ‘Another Simple Favour’

February 5, 2025: The sequel to the popular 2018 thriller A Simple Favour is finally here! Another Simple Favour, starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, has been officially announced as the opening night film for the 2025 SXSW festival. Directed by Paul Feig, the film is set to debut on March 7, 2025, at the festival, and will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video starting May 1, 2025.

The plot picks up with Lively’s character, Emily Nelson, and Kendrick’s Stephanie Smothers as they travel to Capri, Italy, for Emily’s wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman. What starts as a joyful celebration quickly turns dark, as murder and betrayal shake the foundation of their lives, leading to yet another thrilling journey.

Paul Feig, who has previously premiered films like Bridesmaids (2011) and Spy (2015) at SXSW, expressed his excitement about returning to the festival. He shared, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be back at my favourite festival in the world, where we successfully launched Bridesmaids and Spy. To have our film open the festival with this incredible cast is a bucket list event.”

In addition to the return of the original stars, Another Simple Favour sees the return of Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, and Bashir Salahuddin. New cast members joining the ensemble include Elizabeth Perkins, Michele Morrone, Alex Newell, and Allison Janney.

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, praised Feig’s work on the film, saying, “Paul Feig has once again delivered the perfect blend of mystery, wit, and unexpected twists in Another Simple Favour. Blake and Anna bring their incredible talent to the film, and we couldn’t be more excited to share the next chapter of this thrilling saga with both the SXSW audience and Prime Video customers.”

The screenplay for the film was penned by Jessica Sharzer and Laeta Kalogridis, based on characters created by Darcey Bell. Another Simple Favour is produced by Paul Feig and Laura Fischer under Feigco Entertainment, with Jennifer Booth, Sharzer, and Marco Valerio Pugini serving as executive producers. The film will be distributed by Lionsgate.
