BMC Blacklists ‘Dhurandhar’ Makers
Civic body bars B62 Studios from Mumbai shoots over safety violations
February 17, 2026: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has blacklisted B62 Studios, the production house behind Dhurandhar, from seeking future filming permissions in Mumbai for its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Directed by Aditya Dhar and headlined by Ranveer Singh, the film’s team allegedly committed repeated safety violations during shoots in South Mumbai. Along with B62 Studios, Komal Pokhriyal and Nasir Khan have also been barred from applying for permissions through the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation’s online platform. Notices are set to be issued, with copies marked to the Maharashtra Film Cell and the BMC’s Business Cell.
According to officials, the violations began during a February 7–8 shoot in the heritage A Ward, where the use of crackers and flammable materials was reportedly prohibited. Despite assurances, Mumbai Police received complaints on February 14 about lit torches being used in the high-security Fort area past midnight. Officers reached the site and seized five torches, ensuring no further hazardous material was used. The BMC has termed the violations “serious,” citing potential risks to public safety, and noted that earlier claims of using VFX for fire sequences were contradicted by on-ground actions. An FIR had also been registered at MRA Marg Police Station against the film’s location manager for allegedly flying a drone without proper clearance.
Beyond the blacklisting, the civic body has imposed a Rs 1 lakh fine for unauthorised terrace filming and the use of two generator vans, and will forfeit the Rs 25,000 security deposit. The original Dhurandhar emerged as a major box-office success, reportedly collecting over Rs 1,300 crore worldwide. Its sequel, slated for March 19, 2026, is expected to clash with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash and directed by Geethu Mohandas, setting the stage for a high-profile Eid box-office showdown.
