Bobby Deol Grooves at ‘Jamal Kudu’, Takes Home The Award For ‘Performance In A Negative Role’ At IIFA

At the NEXA IIFA Awards 2024, Bobby Deol celebrated a significant achievement by winning the award for Performance in a Negative Role for his portrayal of the silent antagonist Abrar Haque in Animal.

His riveting performance as the menacing villain left the audience cheering enthusiastically, marking another milestone in his journey of reinventing himself as an actor.

During the event, Bobby shared his thoughts on his transformation in the film industry. Reflecting on how his image has evolved over time, he said, “Aisa kuch nahin hota hain. Kya hain jab se maine industry join ki hain, toh yaha ap jis tarah ke roles karte hain, apko usi tarah ke roles milte hain.”

He acknowledged that the types of roles an actor receives often depend on the kind of work they’ve previously done. He added that it took him considerable effort to break away from being typecast and establish himself in more challenging, darker roles, which have now become a new chapter in his career.

Bobby also touched on the struggles he has faced, noting that hardships are an inevitable part of any journey. He explained, “I just think that hard days are part of life. I don’t look at them and feel, oh my God, I went through that period… If you work hard, there comes a day when you get some kind of acknowledgment.”

His remarks shed light on his perseverance and belief in pushing through difficult times to reach a point of recognition.

Adding an entertaining moment to the night, Bobby performed his iconic Jamal Kudu step from Animal, balancing a glass on his head as he accepted the award. This performance charmed the audience and added a touch of nostalgia to the celebration.

The night proved to be a resounding success for Animal as it also took home awards for Best Picture and Best Director for Sandeep Reddy Vanga, making it a memorable event for the entire cast and crew.

The awards ceremony will conclude on September 29 with an exclusive, invitation-only IIFA Rocks event, featuring live performances from artists like Honey Singh, Shilpa Rao, and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, promising an exciting end to the festivities.
