Riteish Deshmukh congratulated Phogat on X, praising her victory, “That’s what a champion looks like after beating the World No 1 & Defending Olympic Gold Medal holder #VineshPhogat.”

Vinesh Phogat’s journey to the Olympic final has been nothing short of spectacular. In the quarter-finals, she faced Tokyo 2020 champion Yui Susaki of Japan. Despite Susaki leading 1-0 at the end of the first period, Vinesh made an incredible comeback in the second period, securing a 3-2 win and handing Susaki her first defeat in 82 international matches.

In the semi-finals, Vinesh faced Ukraine’s Oksana Livach. She took a 2-0 lead in the first period, and despite a strong challenge from Livach in the second period, Vinesh held her ground to secure a spot in the final.

Vinesh Phogat is set to compete against USA’s Ann Sarah Hildebrant in the final on Wednesday, August 7. Her incredible journey and resilience have already made her a national hero, and the support from Bollywood and fans across the country will undoubtedly boost her morale as she aims for gold.
