Bollywood Composer Sachin Sanghvi Arrested on Sexual Assault Allegations

Bollywood music composer and singer Sachin Sanghvi has been arrested by police for the alleged sexual assault of a woman in her 20s. The arrest, which took place on Thursday, October 23, was made under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Details of the Complaint

According to the police, the complainant stated that Sanghvi initiated contact with her on Instagram in February of last year.

1. Initial Contact: Sachin Sanghvi reportedly sent the woman a message on Instagram and promised her work in an upcoming music album.
2. Developing Relationship: Following this initial contact, the two exchanged phone numbers.
3. Alleged Assault: The woman claims Sachin called her to his music studio where he proposed marriage and subsequently sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.

Lawyer Calls Allegations ‘Baseless’

Aditya Mithe, the lawyer representing Sachin Sanghvi, has strongly refuted the allegations against the music director.

• Mithe stated to the press, “The allegations in the FIR against my client are absolutely baseless and unsubstantiated. There are absolutely no merits to the case.”
• He further claimed that Sanghvi’s initial detention by the police was “illegal,” which led to his immediate release on bail.
• The lawyer concluded by stating, “We intend to defend all allegations fully and unequivocally.”

Sachin Sanghvi has not yet issued a personal statement, and his official Instagram account, @soulfulsachin, is currently deactivated. His music partner, Jigar, has also not commented on the matter.

Sachin-Jigar is one of Bollywood’s most recognized music composing duos, with their recent work including the music for the Diwali release Thamma, starring Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana, and the sensational track Aaj Ki Raat from Stree 2 last year.
