Boney Kapoor has revealed the true reason why Sridevi turned down the role in Baahubali, claiming she was treated disrespectfully and offered a low salary. He alleges that the producers lied to director SS Rajamouli about her demands.
September 6, 2025: A decade after the huge success of Baahubali and the public uproar that followed, Sridevi husband Boney Kapoor has revealed the real reason why the renowned actress refused to feature in the film.
Kapoor said in a recent interview that the film’s producers, especially Shobu Yarlagadda, told director SS Rajamouli lies about Sridevi’s unreasonable demands.
Kapoor said that the people who made the movie offered Sridevi less money than she got for her role in English Vinglish. He said that the actress just asked that the shootings be scheduled around her kids’ vacations. He added that these producers were the “culprits” who deceived to Rajamouli by giving him false information about the need for a whole hotel floor and a large group of people.
This isn’t the first time people have talked about this problem. When the movie came out, Rajamouli said in public that Sridevi’s “unprofessional” and expensive demands were why she wasn’t selected as the powerful queen Sivagami. Ramya Krishnan ended up playing the part. Sridevi, on the other hand, said she was shocked and offended by the statements. She said that if she had been unprofessional, she wouldn’t have been able to have a career that lasted 50 years.

So yet, neither SS Rajamouli nor producer Shobu Yarlagadda have said anything official about Boney Kapoor’s recent comments.
