Border 2: Sunny Deol Unleashes His Fierce Fauji Avatar In FIRST Poster; Film To Release On THIS Date
Sunny Deol returns in his iconic role, leading an ensemble cast that includes Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh. The film is set to release on January 22, 2026, ahead of the Republic Day weekend.
August 15, 2025: On the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, the makers of Border 2 released the first official poster of the film and announced its theatrical release date. The much-anticipated movie, a sequel to the 1997 classic, is now set to hit screens on January 22, 2026, just in time for an extended Republic Day weekend.
The poster brings back Sunny Deol in his iconic, battle-hardened Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri avatar. Dressed in military gear and gripping a bazooka, the actor stands as the embodiment of patriotism, with a caption on his Instagram post that reads, “Hindustan ke liye ladenge….phir ek baar!” (We will fight for India… once again!).
Director Anurag Singh noted that announcing the date on Independence Day is a symbolic gesture. “This day reminds us of the sacrifices made by our soldiers for India’s freedom and so does our film. It’s an honour and a privilege to honour their undying spirit through this story,” he said.
Producer Bhushan Kumar echoed the sentiment, stating, “Border is more than a film — it’s an emotion for every Indian. With Border 2, we aim to carry forward that legacy and bring it to a new generation.” The film also features a star-studded cast that includes Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa.
