Box Office Collection Day 3 Of Rs. 300 Crore Vettaiyan, With Rajinikant Reportedly Charging Rs.125 Cr.
October 13, 2024: Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan continues to pull in decent numbers at the box office but hasn’t quite lived up to expectations. After a strong opening of ₹30 crores, the film was expected to maintain its momentum, but it failed to hit the ₹30 crore mark again on both day two and day three. While the film is performing well in Tamil Nadu, buoyed by Rajinikanth’s unmatched stardom, it hasn’t seen the same success in other regions like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where underperformance has hurt its overall numbers.
Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan marks the much-anticipated reunion of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan after 33 years, following their last collaboration in Hum (1991). However, the excitement surrounding this legendary duo hasn’t translated into success in the Hindi market, where the film is struggling to make an impact.
On its third day, Vettaiyan saw slight growth, earning ₹25-27 crores. With this, the film’s total box office collection in India stands at ₹81-83 crores net across all languages. It is expected to cross the ₹100 crore mark by tomorrow, but from there, it will need to make significant gains to secure a successful run domestically.
Despite its decent performance, the film’s overall reception doesn’t match the massive ₹300 crore budget it was made on, especially with Rajinikanth reportedly taking ₹125 crores as his salary.
