Box Office Face-Off: Kesari Chapter 2 Rises, Jaat Holds Ground, Sikandar Slumps Ahead of Weekend Surge

Akshay Kumar’s courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2 leads the weekend race with positive word-of-mouth, while Sunny Deol’s Jaat aims to stay afloat and Salman Khan’s Sikandar continues to fade in its third week.

April 19, 2025: As the weekend unfolds, Bollywood’s box office is witnessing a heated three-way battle between Kesari Chapter 2, Jaat, and Sikandar. The theatrical landscape is shifting swiftly as new releases challenge existing performers, and viewer preference becomes clear.

Kesari Chapter 2 has emerged as the strongest contender this weekend. After opening to a decent ₹7.5–8 crore on Day 1, the film is riding high on a wave of positive reviews and patriotic appeal. Starring Akshay Kumar as C. Sankaran Nair and directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film’s courtroom intensity and historical significance are resonating particularly well in North India. A strong Saturday and Sunday are expected to push the film closer to the ₹25–30 crore weekend mark.

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol’s Jaat, despite a crowded release window, is showing resilience. On its second Friday (Day 9), the film collected ₹4.25 crore, taking its domestic total to ₹65.90 crore. While it faces stiff competition from Kesari Chapter 2, Jaat may still inch closer to the ₹100 crore milestone depending on the weekend footfall.

On the other hand, Salman Khan’s Sikandar is rapidly losing steam. With a Day 20 collection of just ₹0.06 crore, the action drama’s domestic total stands at ₹109.98 crore. After a blockbuster opening week, the film has seen a steep decline, especially during its third weekend. Unless a surprise spike occurs, Sikandar may wrap up its run below expectations.
