Brad Pitt has intensified his legal battle over Château Miraval, claiming Angelina Jolie’s unauthorized 2021 sale of her stake caused $35 million in damages; Jolie’s team counters that Pitt is hiding documents related to alleged “personal misconduct.”

November 6, 2025: The protracted legal conflict between ex-spouses Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie concerning their former French winery, Château Miraval, has reached a new financial peak. Newly filed court documents reveal that Pitt is actively seeking $35 million in damages from Jolie.

The damages stem from Jolie’s 2021 sale of her 50% stake in the profitable vineyard to Tenute del Mondo, a division of the Stoli Group, a move Pitt alleges violated a prior agreement between the co-owners.

The $35 Million Claim Confirmed

The extent of Pitt’s financial pursuit was confirmed through email exchanges from 2023 between the ex-couple’s legal representatives, which were included as exhibits in court filings submitted on October 29.

Jolie’s Attorneys (November 2023 Email): “The burdensome nature of any production is a matter of Mr. Pitt’s own creation, he is suing Ms. Jolie for $35 million in damages… As a result, he has to incur the expense of producing the documents that will show (or not show) those damages.”

Pitt’s initial lawsuit, filed in 2022, claimed Jolie sold her shares without his consent, violating their mutual understanding that neither would sell their share of Miraval without the other’s approval.

Dispute Over NDAs and Misconduct

Jolie’s legal team is using the discovery process to push back, suggesting that Pitt’s financial claims are being used to distract from other issues.

In a separate October 2023 email, Jolie’s attorneys argued that Pitt is attempting to conceal records related to his alleged past “personal misconduct.” They claim Pitt is refusing to share documents concerning the necessity of a four-year nondisclosure agreement (NDA) he allegedly sought to impose on Jolie.

Jolie’s Attorneys: Pitt’s refusal to share these records on the NDA and misconduct is problematic, as those records are central “to the heart of our case and must be produced.”

This exchange touches upon Jolie’s long-standing allegation that Pitt attempted to “force her silence” regarding an alleged physically and verbally aggressive incident aboard a private jet in 2016. Pitt was investigated but not charged in connection with that incident.

Pitt’s side, however, previously contended that it was Jolie’s lawyer who proposed an even broader mutual non-disparagement clause after the sale of her shares.

As the legal teams prepare for further document production and discovery, the $35 million figure confirms the high financial stakes in the ongoing saga of the celebrity couple’s divided assets.
