Brad Pitt's Team Reacts After Fan Was Scammed By AI
January 19, 2025: Brad Pitt’s team has condemned the scammers who took advantage of a French woman, Anne, by using AI to impersonate the actor and deceive her out of $850,000. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the scammer, posing as Brad Pitt, built a relationship with Anne through personalized photos and messages, leading her to believe she was in a long-term relationship with the star.
In a statement, Pitt’s representatives expressed concern over how scammers exploit fans’ deep connection with celebrities. They emphasized the importance of not engaging with unsolicited online messages, especially from actors who do not have social media profiles. “It’s awful that scammers take advantage of fans’ strong connection with celebrities,” the statement said.
Anne was persuaded to send nearly $1 million to help with what “Pitt” claimed was a cancer treatment, citing difficulties accessing his funds due to his divorce from Angelina Jolie. The scammer even sent AI-generated images of Pitt in the hospital to further convince her.
Anne eventually realized she had been scammed after seeing real photos of Brad Pitt with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon. Speaking about the ordeal on a French TV show, Anne reflected on her shock, saying, “At first I said to myself that it was fake, that it’s ridiculous. But I’m not used to social media and I didn’t really understand what was happening to me.” She expressed hurt over being targeted, questioning why she was chosen and adding, “These people deserve hell.”
