Brandy Norwood Breaks Silence on I Know What You Did Last Summer Sequel Role

As Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. Return to the Iconic Slasher Franchise, Brandy Hints at Revisiting Her Role After 25 Years

April 9: The upcoming sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer is bringing back original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., but fans are now wondering — will Brandy Norwood also return?

Brandy, who starred as Karla Wilson in the 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, played Julie’s (Hewitt) college best friend and was one of the few characters to survive the carnage. While her return hasn’t been confirmed, both the director and Brandy herself have teased the possibility.

Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, when asked by People about Brandy’s comeback, simply said, “You’ll have to go see the movie,” fueling speculation that Karla might make a surprise appearance.

Brandy, currently promoting her upcoming film The Front Room, also hinted at the potential comeback. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she said, “I heard some things about it. So, hopefully.”

She added, “I don’t know how she would come back. I haven’t thought about that yet. But I know that she should come back. She should definitely come back.”

The Moesha star confirmed she had been contacted regarding the role but stopped short of revealing whether she’s officially on board.

The new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel is set to hit theaters on July 18, nearly three decades after the 1997 original terrified audiences. Alongside returning leads Hewitt and Prinze, the film will feature a new generation of characters played by Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King. The ensemble also includes Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, Austin Nichols, Lola Tung, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez.

As the slasher saga prepares for a new chapter, fans will be keeping a close eye on whether Brandy’s iconic character will join the legacy cast for another scream-worthy ride.
