Bruce Springsteen Joins Zach Bryan Onstage in New Jersey
East Rutherford, NJ – In a moment that sent shockwaves through the country music world and beyond, Bruce Springsteen surprised fans by joining Zach Bryan on stage Sunday, July 20, 2025, during Bryan’s concert at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The appearance solidified the comparisons often drawn between Bryan, frequently hailed as “Bruce Springsteen’s heir,” and the legendary “Boss.”
The stadium erupted as Springsteen, a native son of New Jersey, took the stage to perform his iconic song “Atlantic City” alongside Bryan. As the final notes faded, the roar of the crowd was unmistakable, with chants of “BRUUUUUCE” echoing through the arena – a clear sign of adoration, not disapproval, despite some initial misinterpretations on social media.
This wasn’t the first time the two musical powerhouses have shared the spotlight. Just last August, Springsteen made a similar surprise appearance at Bryan’s Philadelphia concert, treating fans to renditions of “Atlantic City” and “Sandpaper,” a track they previously collaborated on.
Sunday’s concertgoers got an early hint of the legendary guest’s arrival when “House of a Thousand Guitars,” from Springsteen’s 2020 album Letter to You, played over the sound system early in the evening.
Later in the set, Bryan brought out Caleb Followill, a member of the opening band Kings of Leon, introducing him as the “sweetest man I’ve ever met.” Following that, Bryan took a dramatic pause before bringing on “one of the greatest men to ever exist, a New Jersey native, Mr. Bruce Springsteen.” The band then launched into “Atlantic City,” a track from Springsteen’s 1982 solo album, Nebraska, with Followill also joining in on the performance. This particular era of Springsteen’s career will soon hit the big screen with the October release of the film Deliver Me From Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen.
Springsteen made yet another appearance during the show’s encore, joining Bryan for a powerful rendition of Bryan’s hit “Revival.”
Sunday’s concert marked the final night of Bryan’s successful three-night engagement in East Rutherford.
Bryan, an Oklahoma native and U.S. Navy veteran, has been credited with ushering in a new era of country music, with his songwriting often drawing comparisons to Springsteen’s poetic narratives. His career soared with the release of his fourth album, Zach Bryan, in 2023, followed by another chart-topping album, The Great American Bar Scene, in 2024.
Springsteen recently concluded a European tour and has been spotted enjoying his time in and around his hometown of Freehold, New Jersey. Bryan also spent a significant portion of June touring Europe, headlining two nights at London’s Hyde Park.
