Buffalo8 Acquires North American Rights to ‘Lord Curzon Ki Haveli’ in Landmark Indian Film Deal
Los Angeles / Mumbai, May 22:
In a milestone moment for Indian independent cinema, American production and distribution company Buffalo8 has acquired the North American distribution rights to Lord Curzon Ki Haveli (Lord Curzon’s Manor), a dark comedy thriller that marks actor Anshuman Jha’s debut as director. This deal makes it the first Indian feature to carry the Buffalo8 banner in the U.S. and Canadian markets.
The film made waves during its European premiere at Razor Reel Flanders, Belgium’s premier genre film festival, where it impressed international critics and distributors alike with its bold mix of suspense, satire, and social commentary.
Best known for backing acclaimed projects like Spike Lee’s “Rodney King” and Netflix’s “Conversations With a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes,” Buffalo8 is expanding its footprint in international genre cinema. Speaking about the acquisition, Grady Craig, President of Buffalo8, stated:
“‘Lord Curzon’s Manor’ is a compelling story that bridges cultural and historical narratives with a unique perspective. This debut from Anshuman Jha delivers a rare and successful blend of black comedy and thriller — a fresh take that’s still emerging from Indian cinema. We’re excited for North American audiences to experience this.”
Lord Curzon Ki Haveli revolves around a cryptic dinner party in London, where tensions simmer and secrets surface in a plot reminiscent of classic Hitchcockian thrillers. The film stars an ensemble cast including International Emmy nominee Arjun Mathur, Rasika Dugal, Paresh Pahuja, Tanmay Dhanania, and Zoha Rahman.
“This is more than a film — it’s a cinematic challenge to how stories are told in India,” said Jha. “Buffalo8’s involvement signals that there’s a growing space for bold, genre-defying Indian storytelling on the world stage.”
Lord Curzon Ki Haveli is produced by Golden Ratio Films, First Ray Films, and Adya Films, and recently cleared India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is slated for a theatrical release in North America later this year, with further distribution details expected soon.
With this acquisition, Buffalo8 continues its mission to champion original, independent voices in global cinema, and Lord Curzon Ki Haveli now stands as a powerful emblem of India’s evolving genre filmmaking landscape.
