April 18, 2025: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has addressed the rumors that he has quit the film industry, confirming that he is still very much involved in filmmaking and is just going through a personal relocation.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Kashyap cleared the air, revealing that while he has changed cities, he has not stepped away from his career. In fact, the director joked that he’s “busier than Shah Rukh Khan”, with no free dates until 2028.
“I have relocated cities. I have not left filmmaking. For all the people who think I am frustrated and gone, I am here, and I am busier than Shah Rukh Khan (I have to be; I don’t make as much money). I don’t have dates until 2028,” Kashyap wrote on X, quipping that he is so in-demand that he turns down three projects a day.
Kashyap also revealed that he has five directorials lined up for this year, with possibly three releasing soon, and the rest set for next year. “I have the longest IMDb list, and I am so employed that I turn down three projects a day,” he added.
On the Work Front
Kashyap is also venturing into acting and will soon appear in the upcoming film ‘Dacoit – Ek Prem Katha’, where he plays the role of a police officer. The film, starring Mrunal Thakur and Adivi Sesh, marks the directorial debut of Shaneil Deo.
The film is being shot in both Hindi and Telugu and is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, with co-production by Suniel Narang and presented by Annapurna Studios. The story and screenplay have been crafted by Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo. Filming is currently underway in Hyderabad, with another extensive schedule set in Maharashtra.
