Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Confirmed For Worldwide Reveal At Gamescom 2025 Opening Night
July 15, 2025: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is officially set to make its worldwide reveal at Gamescom 2025, with a massive showcase planned during the Opening Night Live event on August 19. The news comes directly from The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, who announced via his personal X (formerly Twitter) account that Black Ops 7 will be featured “in a massive way.”
While Keighley didn’t elaborate on what the reveal will include, fans are expecting to see the first official gameplay trailer, as the previous teaser released by Activision in June did not include any gameplay footage.
The game was originally announced during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, where it was confirmed that Black Ops 7 will serve as a direct sequel to 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. This highly anticipated installment is set in the year 2035, diving deep into psychological warfare and high-tech conflict.
“The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos,” reads the official game description. “With cutting-edge technology in hand, the Black Ops team led by David Mason must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.”
Although Activision has remained tight-lipped on what will be shown during the Gamescom reveal, all signs point to a major gameplay debut. With both the official Call of Duty and Xbox X accounts hinting at their presence, it’s clear this reveal will be one of the biggest moments of the event.
This level of hype suggests fans may get their first real look at the game’s campaign mechanics, weapons systems, multiplayer modes, or even a sneak peek at the rumored Zombies mode.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops series has always been known for its mind-bending narratives and futuristic tech. With Black Ops 7 set to continue the storyline from BO2 and BO6, and with the return of fan-favorite character David Mason, expectations are sky-high.
Gamescom 2025 is shaping up to be the perfect stage for Activision and Xbox to showcase what could be the most ambitious Call of Duty title yet.
