Camila Cabello Announces ‘Internet Break’

November 15, 2024: Camila Cabello has announced that she is taking a break from social media to focus on her personal life and creative journey.

The 27-year-old singer, who is known for chart-topping hits like “Havana” and “Señorita,” shared her decision in a candid Instagram Story on November 14, 2024. Posting a selfie, she wrote, “a writer must have stories […] living them right now,” and added, “taking some cute little internet breaks.”

This break comes right after Cabello’s dynamic performance at the Elie Saab fashion show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 13, where she delivered a medley of her hit songs, including “Never Be the Same,” “Shameless,” “Señorita,” “Havana,” and “I Luv It.” The event was a star-studded affair, featuring performances by Jennifer Lopez and Celine Dion. Cabello’s electrifying set added another milestone to her already impressive career.

Over the past year, Cabello has been open about taking time for herself, particularly as she navigates personal challenges. In August, she shared a vulnerable message with her followers, revealing how difficult it had been to maintain her energy while facing struggles. She explained, “feels like sometimes there is heartache everywhere I look, within me and around me,” admitting that it had been hard to show up for others when she felt like she was “pouring from what feels like an empty cup.”

She acknowledged that her moments of social media silence were often related to her need for healing, adding, “if I am a part of your life and I disappear sometimes, that’s probably why.” Despite these personal difficulties, Cabello remained optimistic, humorously saying, “you know I’ll be back from my trips to hell hotter, funnier and smarter.”

2024 has been a busy year for Cabello, who released her album C, XOXO in June. The album features tracks like “I Luv It,” “He Knows” (featuring Lil Nas X), and “Hot Uptown” (featuring Drake). In September, she dropped an extended edition of the album, Magic City Edition, which included four new songs, including the track “Godspeed.”

After a long break from touring, Cabello returned to live performances this year and expressed her excitement about getting back on stage. In a post from September, she shared her enthusiasm for bringing the energy of C, XOXO to her fans live, calling the stage her “second home.” She said, “when we made C, XOXO, I knew I had to tour this body of work. These songs, these lyrics, these drums, this ENERGY – was MADE to be experienced live.”

As she continues to focus on both her career and personal growth, Cabello’s decision to step back from social media signals a desire to center herself and her creativity during a busy and transformative period in her life.
