‘Captain America’ Anthony Mackie Wants Shah Rukh Khan as the Next Avenger

Captain America star praises SRK, expresses desire to see him join the Marvel Cinematic Universe

February 12, 2025: Hollywood actor Anthony Mackie, who is set to take on the mantle of Captain America in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film, Captain America: Brave New World, has named Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as his top choice for the next Avenger.

During an interview with influencer Kevin Zingkhai, Mackie was asked which Bollywood actor he would pick as the next superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Without hesitation, he responded:

“I think Shah Rukh Khan, he’s the damn best!”

Shah Rukh Khan: A Marvel Fan Favorite

This isn’t the first time SRK’s name has been associated with Marvel. In Deadpool 2, the film featured a song from SRK’s 2004 classic Swades, hinting at his global influence.

In 2018, Stephen Wacker, then Vice President of Creative Development at Marvel, also expressed his desire to cast Shah Rukh Khan in a Marvel movie, stating:

“If we make Indian content, we have to put Shah Rukh Khan. He has to be in it.”

Similarly, in 2023, The Marvels director Nia DaCosta also shared her admiration for SRK, saying she would love to collaborate with him.

“Shah Rukh Khan is kind of a legend, isn’t he? It’s kind of a no-brainer in that sense.”

Mackie on Brave New World and Taking on Deadpool & Wolverine

In Captain America: Brave New World, Mackie takes over from Chris Evans as the new Captain America, following the events of Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers entrusts him with the iconic shield. The film also stars Hollywood legend Harrison Ford, who plays Thaddeus Ross.

Mackie also spoke about potential Marvel showdowns, saying:

“I think I could give Deadpool a run for his money! My wings against his swords—it could be an even fight. As for Wolverine, well, you can’t really beat a Hulk, so if he fights the Red Hulk, I don’t see that going well for him.”

Captain America: Brave New World Release Date

Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: Brave New World is set to hit theatres on February 14, 2025.
