After more than six weeks in theaters, Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World is inching toward what could be its final box office milestone—a $200 million domestic haul—by the end of this weekend.
🗓️ March 29, 2025 | Box Office numbers: As of now, the Anthony Mackie-led superhero flick has:
- 💰 $193.3 million in U.S. domestic collections
- 🌍 $208.8 million internationally
- 📊 $402 million worldwide total
With just $6.7 million standing between it and the coveted $200M domestic mark, the finish line is in sight. However, Brave New World only brought in a modest $4 million during last weekend’s box office run—its lowest per-theater average so far—casting some doubt on whether it can bridge the gap by Sunday, March 30.
📉 Performance vs Expectations
Despite the Marvel branding and a high-profile cast including Harrison Ford and Giancarlo Esposito, the film has underperformed, ranking as the third-worst box office performer among the last 10 MCU films.

Critics weren’t kind either:
- 49% on Rotten Tomatoes (Critics)
- 79% Audience Score, showing a disconnect between critical and public perception
Collider’s Aidan Kelley rated it 4/10, calling it “a Marvel movie that is as frustrating as it is forgettable.”
🧑✈️ The New Cap Struggles to Soar
Brave New World marked Anthony Mackie’s first full-length outing as Captain America, following his transition from Falcon in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. His debut, though highly anticipated, struggled to capture the same box office magic once enjoyed by Chris Evans’ Captain America.

🎬 Still in Theaters
With a few million more needed to cross the milestone, Captain America: Brave New World is still playing in select theaters. Its final box office fate may rest on this weekend’s turnout—and perhaps a bit of Marvel fan nostalgia.
