Seoul [South Korea], February 18: The sudden demise of Korean actress Kim Sae-ron at the age of 24 has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. According to Seongdong Police in Seoul and Yonhap News Agency, her death has been ruled a suicide, as reported by Deadline.

Kim was found dead at her home in Seoul on Sunday, discovered by a friend who immediately alerted the police.

A Career Cut Short

Kim Sae-ron was one of South Korea’s most promising talents, rising to fame with her performances in films like ‘The Man from Nowhere’ (2010) and ‘The Neighbor’ (2012). She gained widespread recognition for her role in Netflix’s ‘Bloodhounds’, where she portrayed Kim Hyeon-joo.

Her talent earned her accolades, including Best New Actress at the Blue Dragon Film Awards for ‘A Girl at My Door’ and Best New Actress at the Korean Film Awards for her performance in ‘The Man from Nowhere.’

Troubled Past and Career Setback

Kim’s career took a downturn in 2022 when she was fined 20 million won (USD 13,800) for driving under the influence (DUI). Following the incident, she issued a public apology on Instagram, stating:
“There is no excuse for this distasteful incident.”

Due to the controversy, she stepped down from her role in the SBS drama ‘Trolley’ shortly after joining the project. Later that year, she chose not to renew her contract with her agency, Goldmedalist.

A Tragic Loss
