Md Ruhul Amin Fakir, father of Mohammed Shariful Islam, the man accused of stabbing Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, has denied the allegations against his son, claiming his son is being wrongfully implicated. In an exclusive interview with IANS on Thursday, Fakir raised doubts about the evidence, particularly the CCTV footage presented by authorities.

CCTV Footage Under Question
Referring to the footage that reportedly shows the suspect with long hair, Fakir stated, “My son never keeps his hair long. From what is shown in the CCTV, I believe my son is being framed.” The footage has become a key element in the ongoing investigation into the high-profile incident.

Shariful’s Background and Migration to India
Shariful, originally from Bangladesh, reportedly moved to India seeking better job opportunities amid political turmoil in his home country. Fakir highlighted the hardships his son faced, stating, “He left Bangladesh due to the political unrest and was simply trying to make a living in India.”
Fakir explained that his son had been working in Mumbai’s hospitality sector, where salaries were higher compared to West Bengal. “The hotels in Mumbai are large, and the pay is better,” Fakir added, painting a picture of his son as a diligent worker.
Lack of Communication from Authorities
Despite the serious charges against Shariful, Fakir said he had not been contacted by Indian police or other authorities. “No one has come to us or contacted us from India. We don’t know anyone there and have no support,” he said, expressing frustration over the lack of communication.
Last Conversation with Shariful
Recalling his last interaction with his son, Fakir said, “My last conversation with him was on a Friday evening. He used to get his salary after the 10th of every month, and he would always call me afterward.”
While the case continues to draw significant public attention, Fakir remains steadfast in his belief that Shariful is innocent, calling for a fair investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, police are continuing their inquiry into the incident, which has left Saif Ali Khan recovering from multiple injuries.
