Celebrating 6 Years of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’: Vicky Kaushal Reflects on Career-Defining Role

Mumbai, January 12: Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal reflected on the transformative impact of Uri: The Surgical Strike on his career as the film celebrated its sixth anniversary.

Taking to Instagram, Vicky shared an emotional post, expressing his gratitude to audiences for their unwavering love and appreciation.

“6 years to the movie that changed my life! Forever grateful for all the love. How’s the Josh?” he captioned the post, revisiting his iconic dialogue from the film.

A Tribute to the Nation and Cinema

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri is based on the Indian Army’s surgical strikes in September 2016 on terror launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The film not only celebrated the bravery of Indian soldiers but also became a cinematic masterpiece that resonated deeply with audiences.

Vicky portrayed Major Vihaan Singh Shergill, a role that became a turning point in his career, earning him widespread acclaim and numerous awards. The film also featured stellar performances by Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Kirti Kulhari, and Mohit Raina.

Yami Gautam Looks Back with Nostalgia

Co-star Yami Gautam also took to Instagram to celebrate the film’s milestone, sharing heartfelt reflections on her role as intelligence officer Pallavi Sharma.

Uri: The Surgical Strike celebrated more than we can think—the valor of the Indian Army, the spirit of our nation, and the power of cinema. It was an honor for me to be part of a gem like this, which continues to be celebrated,” she wrote.

She thanked fans and the team behind the film, calling it a “dream come true role” and a blessing in her career.

Released in January 2019, Uri: The Surgical Strike became a box office success and a cultural phenomenon. Its rallying cry, “How’s the Josh?” continues to inspire patriotism and is fondly remembered by fans.
