Celebrity Chef and Food Network Star Anne Burrell Dead at 55: 911 Caller Reported Cardiac Arrest

The Food Network star was found unconscious at her Brooklyn home; tributes pour in from chefs and fans around the world

June 18, 2025 – Celebrity chef and Food Network personality Anne Burrell has died at the age of 55. According to the New York City Fire Department, a 911 caller reported that Burrell had gone into cardiac arrest and was found dead on arrival at her Brooklyn, N.Y. residence on Tuesday morning.

An official cause of death has yet to be confirmed, and authorities have stated that an investigation is ongoing.

In a heartfelt statement, Burrell’s family described her as a “beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend.”

“Her smile lit up every room she entered… Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world.”

The Food Network, where Burrell became a household name through shows like Worst Cooks in America, also issued a tribute:

“Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”

A Life Celebrated and Mourned

In what would be her final Instagram post, shared just last week, Burrell appeared healthy and upbeat, smiling alongside New York icon The Green Lady of Brooklyn.

Burrell is survived by her husband Stuart Claxton, whom she married in 2021, and her stepson, Javier.

The culinary world has lost not only a passionate and talented chef but a vibrant personality who inspired millions with her energy, humor, and love of food.
