Chandrika Tandon, Chennai-Born Artist Wins Grammy For Best New Age Album

February 3, 2025: Chandrika Tandon’s Grammy win at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards was a monumental achievement, especially as she claimed the Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album award for her album Triveni.

The fact that she’s a Chennai-born, Indian-American businesswoman and musician adds another layer of inspiration to her success. At 71, Tandon’s win is a testament to the timeless power of music, as her album blends ancient chants with world music to create a meditative experience meant to promote healing.

The album Triveni is a beautiful collaboration with South African flautist Wouter Kellerman and Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto, symbolizing the convergence of different cultures and musical traditions, much like the rivers that the album’s title refers to. Tandon’s work really embodies a fusion of sound and spirituality, and winning the Grammy for it is a well-deserved recognition of her artistry.

It’s also remarkable that this win came after her first Grammy nomination in 2010 for Om Namo Narayana: Soul Call, showing her dedication and continued contribution to the world of music. The support and gratitude she expressed in her social media post toward fellow musicians and collaborators was heartwarming, and it’s clear that the Grammy win was a collective achievement. It was wonderful to see her thank her collaborators and the wider music community for their support.

Tandon’s elder sister, Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo, is another inspiring figure, and it’s so cool that these two incredible women have both made such significant marks in their respective fields.

What did you think of Chandrika Tandon’s win and her album Triveni? It’s such a beautiful example of how music can unite cultures and provide a sense of healing.
