February 8, 2025: The 30th annual Critics Choice Awards took place after being postponed due to the LA wildfires, with comedian Chelsea Handler hosting the star-studded event. This marked Handler’s third time as the host, and she didn’t hold back in her monologue, poking fun at several celebrities including Justin Baldoni, Blake Lively, Colin Farrell, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Nicole Kidman.
Handler humorously acknowledged the tough times people have been facing and pointed out the importance of having a distraction. She made light-hearted comments about the ongoing legal drama between Baldoni and Lively, saying, “Thank you for providing us with that distraction. I’m grateful. I think we’re all grateful.”
Handler also took a playful dig at Ariana Grande’s rumored romance with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, saying, “Now Ariana has even found love with a munchkin. That’s good news, everybody.”
The Critics Choice Awards were originally scheduled for January 12 but had been rescheduled due to the wildfires. The event celebrated the best in film and television, with Conclave and Wicked dominating the film nominations. In television, Shogun led with six nominations, while several other shows like Abbott Elementary, Hacks, and The Diplomat each garnered four nominations.
The awards ceremony was streamed live on Lionsgate Play in India, bringing Hollywood’s finest to audiences around the world.
