February 15, 2025: Chhaava Scores a Massive ₹31 Crore Opening, Biggest of 2025 So Far
Vicky Kaushal’s historical action drama, Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, has stormed the box office with a record-breaking opening of ₹31 crore nett across all languages, making it the biggest opener of 2025 so far. Released on Valentine’s Day, the film was one of the most anticipated period epics of the year, and the audience response has been nothing short of phenomenal.
According to trade reports from Sacnilk, the film registered a 35.17% occupancy in Hindi markets on its opening day. The breakdown of footfall is as follows:
🔹 Morning shows: 30.51%
🔹 Afternoon shows: 34.50%
🔹 Evening shows: 40.51%
With this grand total, Chhaava has surpassed Vicky Kaushal’s previous highest opener, Uri: The Surgical Strike (₹8.20 crore on day 1). Additionally, it has outperformed Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which opened at ₹15.30 crore last month.
Chhaava also saw strong advance booking numbers, selling close to 5 lakh tickets across India before its release, cementing its status as one of the year’s biggest Bollywood spectacles.
🔹 Director: Laxman Utekar
🔹 Producer: Dinesh Vijan (Maddock Films)
🔹 Cast:
Chhaava is an adaptation of the renowned Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant and brings to life the heroic story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the valiant son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film’s soundtrack is composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil.
Given the strong word-of-mouth and positive audience reception, trade analysts predict Chhaava could continue its dominance over the weekend, possibly crossing ₹100 crore in its first week. With limited competition, the Vicky Kaushal starrer might emerge as one of 2025’s highest-grossing films.
Will Chhaava continue to shatter records? Stay tuned for the weekend box office update! 🚀
