Chris Martin Dedicates Special Song To "Beautiful Brother" Jasprit Bumrah, Calls Him "The Best Bowler"
January 27, 2025: In a heartwarming moment during Coldplay’s concert in Ahmedabad, frontman Chris Martin paid a special tribute to Jasprit Bumrah, India’s pace spearhead, who was present at the event.
Martin dedicated a beautiful song to Bumrah, calling him the “best bowler in the world,” and humorously added that he didn’t enjoy watching Bumrah “destroy” the English batting lineup with his fiery pace and precision.
“O Jasprit Bumrah, my beautiful brother. The best bowler in the whole of cricket. We did not enjoy watching you destroy England, wicket after wicket,” Martin said during the performance. A video shared on Disney+ Hotstar captured the moment, where Martin also played a clip of Bumrah’s stunning performances against England, showcasing his brilliance on the field.
Additionally, Coldplay displayed Bumrah’s signed Test jersey on stage, making it a memorable tribute. The concert was streamed live on Hotstar, allowing fans worldwide to witness this special gesture.
This wasn’t the first time Chris Martin showed admiration for Bumrah. During Coldplay’s concerts in Mumbai on January 18 and 19, Martin had mentioned Bumrah twice. On the first night, he playfully said, “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage,” before adding, “He (Bumrah) says he needs to bowl at me now.” The crowd erupted with excitement at the mention of the star cricketer’s name, even though Bumrah did not make a physical appearance.
On the second day, Martin again gave Bumrah a shout-out, playing a clip of Bumrah’s iconic dismissal of England’s Ollie Pope during the 2024 home series, further solidifying his admiration for the Indian pacer.
Bumrah, who is currently ranked as the top bowler in the ICC Men’s Test Rankings, will be gearing up for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, set to begin on February 19. Although he’s currently dealing with a back issue, which might rule him out of the upcoming ODI series against England starting February 6, his stellar performances in previous series have cemented his place as one of the finest fast bowlers in world cricket.
Fans of both cricket and Coldplay were treated to an unforgettable blend of music and sports as Chris Martin’s shout-outs highlighted the global admiration for Bumrah’s skills.
