Chris O'Donnell To Star In ‘911: Nashville’ As Fire Captain Don Sharpe
March 18, 2025: Chris O'Donnell, best known for his role as G Callen in NCIS: Los Angeles, is set to play the lead role in the upcoming 911 spinoff, 911: Nashville. The series, which received a straight-to-series order from ABC in February, is expected to premiere in the 2025-26 season.
O'Donnell will take on the role of Captain Don Sharpe, a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who oversees Nashville's busiest firehouse. His character is described as a devoted family man, managing his work alongside his beloved son, though he carries some secrets that add depth to his role. This will mark O'Donnell's first ongoing TV role since NCIS: Los Angeles concluded in 2023, after 14 successful seasons.
The 911 franchise, which already includes the flagship series and the 911: Lone Star spinoff, has been considering new locations for a third series for months. Initially, Las Vegas was thought to be a potential setting, but ABC ultimately chose Nashville for its spinoff, continuing the successful 911 brand.
In addition to his role in 911: Nashville, O'Donnell has also guest-starred in the comedy Bupkis alongside Pete Davidson. The actor has had a diverse career, from starring in the critically acclaimed Scent of a Woman with Al Pacino to Batman Forever, Vertical Limit, and a memorable recurring role on Grey's Anatomy.
The series is being developed by writers and executive producers Murphy, Tim Minear, and Rashad Raisani. The show will also be executive produced by 911 star Angela Bassett and Brad Falchuk, further solidifying the connection between the 911 universe.
911: Nashville is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the franchise, and fans of O'Donnell and the 911 series can look forward to a thrilling ride when the show hits the airwaves in 2025-26.
