Christopher Nolan’s Film ‘The Odyssey’ First Poster Leaked

June 29. 2025: The promotional campaign for Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated historical epic, The Odyssey, has officially begun, offering fans their first glimpse of the film with a striking poster release. Though the movie is still more than a year away from hitting theaters, the poster made its debut at AMC theaters across the United States before a high-resolution version leaked online, creating an immediate buzz among cinephiles and Nolan enthusiasts alike.

The poster features the film’s title prominently displayed beneath Nolan’s name, with a powerful tagline: “Shot entirely with IMAX film cameras.” This marks a significant milestone, as The Odyssey is the first film ever to be shot exclusively with IMAX cameras—a process Nolan championed despite its complexity and high costs.

Against a dark black background, the poster’s text is rendered in stark light blue and red hues, heightening the sense of drama. Dominating the visual is a haunting image of a decapitated ancient Greek god statue, from which smoke and sparks rise—aptly capturing the film’s central theme, boldly declared on the poster: “Defy the Gods.” The film is slated for release on July 17, 2026.

Based on Homer’s legendary epic poem, The Odyssey will tell the harrowing tale of Odysseus, the mythic king of Ithaca, and his arduous journey home following the Trojan War. The narrative will showcase iconic encounters with mythical figures such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, the enchanting Sirens, and the witch goddess Circe, culminating in his reunion with his wife, Penelope.

The cast features an impressive lineup of stars, led by Matt Damon as Odysseus and Tom Holland as his son, Telemachus. The ensemble also includes Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, and Elliot Page, promising a richly layered and compelling retelling of the classic saga.

As anticipation builds, Nolan’s decision to push the boundaries of filmmaking technology and storytelling is set to make The Odyssey a landmark event in cinema history.
