CID Star Dayanand Shetty Recalls Rare On-Set Injury: “My Fingers Hit….”

As the iconic Inspector Daya, Dayanand Shetty opens up about a mishap during a slap scene on the sets of CID — a rare incident in his 22-year career breaking doors and chasing criminals.

May 3, 2025: CID fans have admired Dayanand Shetty’s powerful screen presence as Inspector Daya for over two decades, especially his signature line “Daya, darwaza tod do!” But the actor recently shared a rare behind-the-scenes incident that took an unexpected turn.

In a conversation with Filmee Keeda, Dayanand revealed a rare mishap during a high-intensity scene where he had to slap a co-actor. Known for making his action scenes look real while maintaining absolute safety, he said, “Once my fingers touched someone’s nose during a slapping scene and he started bleeding. It was unintentional, and it’s the only time it happened in my 22-year career. I’ve broken countless doors, but never hit a face.”

In the new promo for the May 3 episode on SonyLIV via OTTplay Premium, tension rises as ACP Ayushmann tells Pradyuman, “Aapke CID team mein ek gaddar hai, jo aapko maarna chahta hai” — “There’s a mole in your team who wants to kill you.”
